The mission of the Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse is to equip churches to fulfill Christ’s great commission.
The Leadership Team serves as both the “session” and “trustees” of the Presbytery. It is responsible for the preparation and examination of candidates and commissioned ruling elders; the calling of pastors and the validation of specialized ministries; the provision of Moderators for Sessions; review and proposed action on Overtures; the review of Session Minutes; supervision of the Dean of the Commissioned Ruling Elder program; leadership development efforts within the Presbytery; and oversight of all financial, property, and legal matters before the Presbytery.
The Leadership Team is comprised of fifteen ruling and teaching elders organized in three classes. Two of its members are elected by the Presbytery to serve as its chair and vice-chair. In addition, the current moderator and vice-moderator, stated clerk and associate stated clerk, and resource presbyter and treasurer, serve as ex officio members of the Leadership Team.
The Committee on Ministry seeks to promote healthy congregations and pastoral leadership, and to assist congregations in identifying and pursuing their unique calling to serve Christ in their particular context. The Committee fulfills its functions in accordance with Form of Government G-3.0307.
